The G.R.E.A.T. Project

The G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training) project began with criticism over the training program's workbook.  The program, which targets 2nd grade children to middle school children, used a workbook that was illustrated with cartoons.  The characters appeared to be in a gang.  I was approached by one of our Sergeants, who at the time was on a committee to change the cartoon illustrations to finished drawings.  In 1999 I did these first drawings as examples of my work.  Since that time I have done approximately 40 drawings.  This was a big challenge and a lot of fun. The book is due to début in Aug-Sept 2001.
