A HOMICIDE STORY

       

 

Sometime after midnight on 04/17/98, the white male victim and his brother went to the area of Cochester Street and Shongee Street, off of  State Road 545 in Winter Garden.  Three black male suspects approached the two.  An argument ensued, the suspect black male on the passenger side, produced a handgun and fatally shot the victim.  The victim's brother from the area and called the Sheriff's Office.  Shortly thereafter investigators has the victim's brother do a composite of the black male he saw at his brother's window.  Later, the same day, detectives were showing the composite in the area.  Within minutes of showing the composite several area locals told the detectives the suspects name.  Detectives prepared a line-up with the suspect's picture and obtained a positive identification.  The suspect was subsequently arrested and the case was closed.
